A yearlong professional learning program for teachers of grades 6 through 8 in the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia
The Learning Experience
Your program entails two in-person workshops, a school visit, and two virtual meetings — all with a small cohort of CDA middle school colleagues.
Objectives
This yearlong learning experience will help middle school teachers
Understand how to engage a wide variety of learners with scaffolding and choice, while maintaining high standards for all students
Experience learning in a UDL environment, learning strategies that are immediately useful in their classrooms
Exchange insights and problem-solve challenges with same-grade colleagues
Tentative Dates
In-person kick off workshop: Monday, September 29, 2025; 9am - 3pm (Lunch included.)
School visit: November (Date and school TBD)
Virtual Meetings: January 12 and February 9, 2:45 - 4:00 pm
Mid-year Half-Day Workshop: March 16, 2025; 8:30 - 11:30 am

In-person Workshops
Explore the fundamental concepts of UDL and gain instructional strategies to engage all students in an inclusive learning environment.
School Visit
Our cohort will visit a diocesan school to observe other teachers implementing UDL practices in grades 6-8 classrooms. The visit will conclude with a debrief discussion, so you can identify takeaways to apply in your own teaching.
Virtual Meetings
Meet virtually with same-grade-level teachers from across the diocese for idea-sharing and collaborative problem-solving with a UDL focus.
